Solar plants are normally installed on flat roofs either using anchor bolts or ballast. Anchor bolts can cause collateral damage to roof slab by way of leakage and loss of strength. Ballast can occasionally overstress the slab. Our patent enables a novel ballasted rooftop module mounting structure which reduces or even eliminates additional load on the roof.
Red lines in the isometric view below represent pre-tensioned wire ropes anchored at ends either to an existing structure such as a parapet or to a block fixed to roof slab by adhesives. Thus, individual mounting frames are interconnected both in North-South and East-West directions resulting in increased effective wind area and therefore reduced wind load on the structural system. Ballast requirement is correspondingly reduced.
