In the current practice, box-like moulded plastic partially submerged floaters support solar panels. The tilt angle of panels can be varied in a limited range and the plant is not suitable for offshore locations.
By contrast, the present invention offers a robust FPV system consisting of a peripheral toroidal floater (101) to which parallel stainless steel cables are anchored for supporting aluminium mounting frames (102) with any tilt. All joints of the mounting frames are hinged so as to make the structure compliant with the wave motion. A specially designed floater with high damping and added mass is fixed to each leg of the mounting frames. The coffer breakwater (103) effectively attenuates impinging waves. Mooring lines (104) are anchored at (110) for station keeping.
